I grew up in and around water, and finally decided it was time to get open water scuba certified to open up new adventures. A simple Internet search led me to Dive With Frank's (DWF) website, and looking through it led me to contact him. Frank was very responsive to emails. As soon as I decided to work with him to get my teenager and I certified, he spent time working with me to get a game plan together and was more than flexible working around our schedule.
I appreciated the 1-on-1 confined water sessions we had. He kept a positive, encouraging, and light-hearted approach. At the same time made sure we understood the importance of the required skills, why they were needed, and ensured we could perform them. I believe this is absolutely how it should be: lots of fun but holding his students accountable and ensuring they recognize the importance of what they were learning.
Our open water training dives were with a larger group, but we still got the same wonderful approach as our confined water sessions, and with plenty of personal attention. Frank's support staff during these open water dives were wonderful, too. This resulted in us being successfully certified, and already thinking about our next chance to dive.
As a parent, I will also say Frank was absolutely wonderful working with my teenager. My teen appreciated being treated more like an adult, and I appreciated how he was very supportive throughout the whole process. In fact, as a Scouting America Merit Badge Counselor, Frank even took some of his own downtime during the weekend of our open water dives to help my teen earn the Scuba Diving Merit Badge (something he did not have to do, but did anyway!)
I would absolutely recommend DWF if you are interested in scuba certifications/training. He was awesome (and great working with youth)! Now we are certified, we are hopeful to get to go on one of his dive trips in the future.
